Lipsa Castle

Lipsa Castle is a listed castle complex in the village of Lipsa. It is located in the south of the southern Brandenburg district of Oberspreewald-Lausitz.
Lipsa Castle was first mentioned in 1680. Wolf Heinrich von Baudissin had the castle built in its current form from 1718 to 1720 and held Masonic conventions there. By 1726, the castle was owned by Baroness Theodora Eugenia von Löwendahl, née Freiin von Schmettau, who lived here until 1768. After the Counts of Redern, Count Ernst von Gersdorff took over the castle in 1831, whose family had already owned the Lipsa estate since 1671. In 1864, Ernst Christian August von Gersdorff took control of the Lipsa estate. He sold the Lipsa estate and the estates in Jannowitz and Hermsdorf to Lieutenant Carl August Tölke in 1890/1891. In 1904, Dr. Walter Neumann became the owner, followed in 1913 by the Prussian government councillor Paul von Schumann. The latter had a neo-baroque wing added in 1914, which created the T-shaped floor plan and the current appearance. The last private owner of Lipsa was Carl Maria von Eversfelde, Baron von Beversfoerde, from 1942 to 1945.
