Hohenferchesar [hoːn̩fɐˈçeːzaʁ] is a district of the town of Havelsee in the district of Potsdam-Mittelmark in the state of Brandenburg and part of the Beetzsee office. In 2002, Hohenferchesar voluntarily merged with the town of Pritzerbe and the municipalities of Briest and Fohrde to form the town of Havelsee, to which the village of Marzahne also joined in 2008. Hohenferchesar is located on the eastern shore of Lake Pritzerber. To the west and south, the nature reserve Untere Havel Süd borders directly on the village.
Even in prehistoric times, the area was inhabited by humans. Based on archaeological finds, settlements in the area can be traced back at least to the Middle Stone Age. Numerous artifacts made of bones and antlers have been excavated in the area of Lake Pritzerber, dating back to the Upper Paleolithic or Mesolithic periods. For example, points, bone fish hooks, and a buzzer device were found. There are also individual finds from the younger Stone Age in the Pritzerber area. Additionally, Bronze Age settlement remains have been documented near Hohenferchesar. Iron Age burial fields have been found in the vicinity of Lake Pritzerber. Several prehistoric burial fields with urns, dating from the Bronze Age to the Roman Imperial period, were discovered at Gallberg between Hohenferchesar and Fohrde. A large part of the prehistoric finds from the Pritzerbe area is exhibited at the Jerichower Land district museum in Genthin.
