Zietenhorst is located 16 kilometers east of the town of Fehrbellin and 8 kilometers south of the towns of Wustrau and Altfriesack. The district is situated in the middle of the Rhinluch.
The settlement was founded in 1937, at the time of its founding there was a farm here. The settlement company "Eigene Scholle" from Frankfurt purchased the land and began work on the improvement of the Rhinluch. Six farms of about 50 hectares each were to be established. From 1939 to 1945, a labor camp was operated, and after the outbreak of World War II, two prisoner-of-war camps were added. The prisoners worked on the drainage of the Rhinluch.
