Colony Alsen refers to the summer villa colony founded in 1863 by banker Wilhelm Conrad in the Berlin district of Wannsee on the northern shore of the Small Wannsee and the western shore of the Great Wannsee.
The magnificent villas of this most noble Berlin colony, embedded in a park, represented a unique cultural landscape of the Imperial Era and the Weimar Republic. Few houses have survived today, so the Gesamtkunstwerk created at that time can only be guessed at.
