The Stadtbad Wedding was one of the public bathing facilities that were built around the turn of the 20th century in Berlin and its suburbs. It was located on Gerichtstraße in the district of Gesundbrunnen. As a swimming pool, it was decommissioned in 1999. After being sold to a private investor, it was renamed Stattbad Wedding and served other cultural purposes. In 2016, the property was sold again, and the new owner from Regensburg plans to build apartments on the site.
The building was commissioned by the municipality of Wedding at the beginning of the 20th century to provide the rapidly growing population with bathing and sports facilities. The apartment buildings that had been constructed at that time, particularly near the new factories, did not have showers or bathtubs for the workers and their families. The architectural plans for the public bath were provided by architect and city planner Ludwig Hoffmann, who had also designed city baths and other municipal buildings in other communities and in Old Berlin. The facility was inaugurated in 1907; its main components were two swimming pools, referred to as the Small Hall and the Large Hall according to their dimensions. The smaller one was to be used only by women, while the larger one was for men only. Additionally, there was a dedicated bathing section and changing facilities. The original architecture was similar to that of the Stadtbad Oderberger Straße, which had already been built according to Hoffmann's plans.
