Stolzenhagener Lake

The Stolzenhagener Lake, located in the southern area of the Stolzenhagen district of the large municipality of Wandlitz, is part of the Biesenthal-Wandlitz-Prenden lake district, which comprises about 30 large and smaller lakes. A relic from the Weichsel Ice Age, it is only about 170 meters wide but nearly 13 times as long. The lake has been privately owned by the Otto family at least since 1831.
The shore regions of the Stolzenhagener Lake are only sparsely developed but are accessible by solid roads. There is a well-marked circular hiking trail that is about five kilometers long, which only follows the nearly one-kilometer-long lakeside promenade on the southwestern shore. Along the entire eastern side, it runs through a quiet residential street and in the west along the side of a little-trafficked country road. Older descriptions of a continuous immediate lakeside path are outdated. In the eastern area of the lake, the Stolzenhagener Heath adjoins it. The actual village of Stolzenhagen, named after the lake, was independent until 2003 and extends in the northwest area of the lake and beyond the heath.
