The Rautenstock is a listed building located in Doberlug-Kirchhain, Hauptstraße 18, in the Elbe-Elster district of Brandenburg, Germany. It was converted in 1666 as a guest house for Doberlug Castle and is characteristic of the Baroque character of the district. The building housed an inn until the end of World War II; It was later used as a commandant's office and later as an administration for the forestry authority. After years of vacancy since the 1990s, the house was restored in 2013 and received a new use as a guest house.
As part of the construction of Doberlug Castle, an inn was planned in 1664 to accommodate ducal guests on behalf of Duke Christian I of Saxe-Merseburg. This information comes from an initial cost estimate for this year. Other documents from 1682 clearly show that construction began much later. The building was part of the urban fabric of the time with an exposed location. Unlike the adjoining buildings in Doberlug, the inn was built as a solitary building. To the east and west, the property was flanked by a driveway each. The original inn consisted of a set of buildings that surrounded a courtyard. With its main house, the "Rautenstock" was oriented to the north in the middle of today's main street, which served as a representative access road to the castle. At the rear, single-storey farm buildings were added in a U-shape in the 18th century. They included stable and barn areas. The inner courtyard, which was accessed through a passageway in the south farm building and in the area of the north main building, was paved with reading stones.
