The Woodland Cemetery Grünau is located at Rabindranath-Tagore-Straße 18–20, in extension of the Horst-Kunze-Weg, in the district of Grünau in the Berlin district of Treptow-Köpenick. Another access is possible via the extended Kablower Weg from the forest side coming from Bohnsdorf. The cemetery was established in 1920/21 at the Berlin City Forest Grünau and covers an area of 27,800 m².
In 1749, four settler families from the Palatinate founded the settlement at the Grünen Aue, which was established at the behest of the Prussian King Friedrich the Great, not far from the forest house Steinbinde located by the Langer See. Grünau did not have its own church until 1906 and was ecclesiastically assigned to the parish and village church of Bohnsdorf. In the early days, the numerically few deceased from Grünau were therefore buried in the churchyard of Bohnsdorf.
