The Selkefall is located about 20 minutes walk from Alexisbad, on the B 185 in the direction of Harzgerode, near the Selke Valley Railway. The fall height of the very fast flowing water here is only a few meters. The water falls in cascades over large boulders that are not of natural origin, but still look natural.
The Selke Falls were created between 1828 and 1830 in the course of the construction work for the construction of the Carls Teich. For this purpose, the Selke was dammed on the road side and led over a wild flood that was carved into the rock. This was regulated by a weir, which was destroyed by a flood on 5 July 1955. The harrow is still recognizable as a small stollen.
