The Magdeburg VEB Shipyard "Edgar André" existed from 1922 to 1970 and was subsequently incorporated into the VEB Combine for Air and Refrigeration Technology in Dresden.
Initial plans for a repair yard of the Elbstrom Construction Administration in Magdeburg date back to 1903. In 1912, excavation of the harbor basin of the shipyard began, and in 1922, the state shipyard Rothensee operated by the Prussian Machinery Office commenced operations.
