Haardorf is located southwest of the town of Osterfeld and east of Goldschau in an intensively used agricultural area on the Landesstraße 190.
A statistical survey commissioned by Duke August of Saxe-Weißenfels in 1663 showed a population of 56 people for Haardorf,1 who lived spread over 12 farms and a cultivated garden plot. By the 18th century, the number of plots had risen to 20. In 1852, the number of inhabitants was 148 people and was to rise to 440 by 1905, before a decline to 351 people began by 1971.
