In a directory of tithes from the monastery of Hersfeld, created between 881 and 899, Krumpa is first officially mentioned as the tithe-obligated place Crupa in Friesenfeld.
Until 1815, Krumpa was a parish village in the Saxon district of Freyburg and then came under Prussian rule. In 1589, the spelling was Crumpa. At that time, 51 property owners lived in the village, including 11 tenant farmers and 40 non-landowning farmers, whose land encompassed 52 hides. The inheritance courts in the upper village were owned by the proprietor of the local manor, but in the rest of the village and the village lands, it was the district of Freyburg. The land previously bordered Kämmeritz, Petzkendorf, Bedra, Schortau, Gröst, Branderoda, Mücheln, Eptingen, Zöbigker, and Möckerling, some of which had to give way due to lignite mining in the Geiseltal.
