The naval base Kiel is located in Schleswig-Holstein in the coastal city of Kiel in the district of Wik.
The naval base Kiel houses numerous departments and parts of the German Navy as well as other authorities. Its harbor is named after Alfred von Tirpitz, a German Grand Admiral. The Tirpitz harbor is set to be renamed Oskar-Kusch harbor in 2020, and the Tirpitz mole to Brandtauchermole.
