The mountain is located west of the district of Jauernick-Buschbach in the municipality of Markersdorf in Upper Lusatia. Together with the neighboring Kreuzberg, the ridge is also known as the Jauernicker Mountains in Eastern Upper Lusatia.
On the southwest slope of the mountain, about nine burial mounds were discovered in 1929, three of which were archaeologically investigated in 1930 and 1951. Individual shards and a small amount of cremated remains were found, allowing for dating to the 11th to 12th centuries. Only four mounds remain today. The burial mounds could be associated with the sepulcrum droszowicoph mentioned in the Upper Lusatian border document from 1241.
