Cannewitz

Cannewitz, Upper Sorbian, is a village in the eastern Saxon district of Bautzen and has been part of the municipality of Malschwitz since 1994. It is located in Upper Lusatia and is situated in the settlement area of the Sorbs.
Cannewitz is a square-like expanded circular village about 11 km east of Bautzen and 5 km southeast of Malschwitz. It is located in the shared floodplain of the Kotitzer and Löbauer rivers, with the former flowing through the village and the latter running slightly to the east. Despite their proximity to each other - in some places they are only 100 meters apart - they only converge a few kilometers to the north. Both to the south and east, the terrain rises toward the Upper Lusatian region, while the western surroundings are relatively flat up to the Kreckwitz heights and to the north.
