Saeffelen is a rural village in the German municipality of Selfkant, within the district of Heinsberg in North Rhine-Westphalia. It has 941 inhabitants. Saeffelen is located in the northeast of the municipality of Selfkant at an altitude of approximately 58 meters on the Geilenkirchener Lehmplatte, about halfway between Heinsberg and Sittard. The busy connecting road L228 between these two places runs through the village. Just north of the village lies the Dutch border at Koningsbosch. The border crossing is located at the Dutch hamlet of Spaanshuisken. Just south of the village, the Saeffelbeek flows from east to west through a small valley. The Saeffelbeek empties into the Roode Beek, which further flows into the Meuse.
