The building named Stern-Apotheke was a listed monument from the 16th century in Kempten in the Allgäu. The old Stern-Apotheke was demolished in 1961 despite its protected status as part of the so-called old town redevelopment, a nationwide urban development pilot project, and due to alleged dilapidation, and was replaced by a modern historicizing concrete new building. The building is located next to the Ponikauhaus, a prominent building of the former imperial city.
The three-story house featured a Neo-Renaissance façade with five window axes on the side facing the town hall square. The steep, four-story gable roof was architecturally divided by four rows of dormers. To the Heinrichgasse, a narrow connecting path from the city theater to the town hall square, there were partially bricked-up round-arched and pointed-arched light slots. The late Gothic gable described as remarkable by Michael Petzet had two large pointed-arch panels under corresponding triangular fields in the corners. The side portal from the early 17th century consisted of pilasters beneath a triangular gable. On the ground floor, there were rooms with banded stucco from around 1730.
