The honorary cemetery of Heidelberg is located above the southern city of Heidelberg at an altitude of about 295 meters on the so-called Ant Hill above the Heidelberg Mountain Cemetery. The facility was established from 1933 to 1935 as a soldiers' cemetery to accommodate more than 500 reinterred fallen soldiers of World War I and covers an area of over 17 hectares.
