Hohenfels University of Applied Sciences

The Hohenfels Castle University of Applied Sciences was a state-recognized private university for specialist therapies in healthcare located in Coburg.
In 2004, the "Fachhochschule Schloss Hohenfels gGmbH" was established as the sponsoring organization for a private university of applied sciences by the shareholders Klinikum Coburg gGmbH and Medau-Schule gGmbH in Coburg. The Bavarian State Ministry of Science, Research, and the Arts granted state approval on December 30, 2004. On January 13, 2005, the basic regulations of Hohenfels Castle University of Applied Sciences came into effect. In 2005, the German Adult Education Association became a shareholder, which after the exit of the clinic and Medau School at the end of 2009 was the sole shareholder. Previously, in September 2009, Hans-Jochen Medau, the president of the university, resigned. He accused the main shareholder, the German Adult Education Association, of unprofessional and self-serving management of the university after the suspension of the speech therapy degree program due to an inadequate number of new students.
