Bad König Castle is a cohesive complex consisting of the Old Castle, the New Castle, the Rentmeisterei, today's Evangelical Church with its medieval fortified churchyard and the Lustgarten. It is located in the centre of Bad König in the Odenwaldkreis in Hesse, Germany.
In the year 820, the fortified churchyard was first mentioned as a castle, in 1348 it is partly owned by the Counts of Erbach. In 1477, the fortified churchyard passed to Konrad Schenk von Erbach as a fief of the Electorate of Mainz, and Archbishop Dieter von Isenburg reserved the right to open it. This shows that the castle and the city of König must have been in a fortified state at that time. A church tower on the stately grounds was built in 1478.
