The Eckener House is one of the cultural monuments of the Flensburg city center. It was named after the Flensburg airship captain, entrepreneur, and honorary citizen of the city of Flensburg, Hugo Eckener.
The late Gothic brick gabled house at Norderstraße 8 near the Marienkirche was gradually constructed since the 16th century. The late Baroque façade of the building dates back to the middle of the 18th century. The aforementioned two-story front has a so-called Utlucht on both the left and right of the entrance. After 1853, three sandstone putti were installed on the gable. They come from the Neuwerkgarten of the Gottorf Castle in Schleswig. The three statues represent personifications of the seasons. When viewed from the front, winter is on the left, autumn is in the middle, and summer is on the right.
