The Ungerberg is a mountain located south of Neustadt in Saxony and belongs to the urban area. With a height of 537.2 m above sea level, it is a popular destination in the region. Hiking trails lead to the mountain from six directions. The summit is also accessible via a service road.
The largely unwooded mountain at the time was already a popular viewpoint with the onset of tourism in the Elbsandstein mountains, praised by Wilhelm Leberecht Götzinger. As growing trees increasingly obstructed the view, the knight's estate owner of Burkersdorf had a covered wooden observation tower built in 1848. A small inn opened at the foot of the tower. However, in December 1848, the tower was destroyed by arson.
