Schlosshotel Domäne Walberberg is an informal hotel and conference center with a unique location in a former medieval castle. It's close to Phantasialand. Its location makes it a popular choice for Phantasialand visitors, as it's just a few kilometers from the theme park.
The castle was originally built as a medieval moated castle around 1140 and later served as a Dominican monastery for centuries. Not only monastic life took place here, but also important meetings: for example, in June 1945, immediately after the Second World War, part of the very first program negotiations for the founding of the CDU (Christian Democratic Union) were held in the monastery. Influential clergy and politicians gathered there, making the castle a historic site for post-war German politics.
