The Gymnasium der Stadt Alsdorf is a grammar school in Alsdorf, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Around 60 teachers teach at the school; The headmaster is Martin Wüller. Since the 2017/18 school year, the school has been located in the Alsdorf-Mitte Culture and Education Centre.
The school was founded in 1914 as a "secondary school" in the former casino on Rathausstraße. Shortly afterwards, the location changed to the military hospital building "An der Mariensäule". However, due to the First World War, the school had to change location again, as the building was needed to treat injured soldiers. The old police station on Cäcilienstraße served as the new location. In 1921, there was the first class of graduates, whose graduation from today's perspective is equivalent to that of the "Mittlere Reife". From 1924, the school was officially allowed to call itself a grammar school. There was another move in 1930, namely to the old bread factory on Rathausstraße. The school remained there until 1961. This was followed by the move to the newly constructed building on Theodor-Seipp-Straße in Ofden. After all, this location served the school for a good 56 years. Since the 2017/2018 school year, the school has been located at its sixth location, the Johannes Rau Culture and Education Centre, on the former mine site of the Anna pit. One of the best-known graduates is former DFB president Egidius Braun.
