In the northwestern district of the castle park, the orangery was built from 1727 to 1734, just like the pheasantry, according to the plans of J. C. Schlaun. The flat gable on the south side is adorned, both then and now, with the alliance coat of arms of Ferdinand v. Plettenberg under the count's crown and the chain of the Golden Fleece. However, Schlaun emphasized the functionality of a purpose-built structure in this building. According to the floor plan, the orangery consisted of only one room with two attached greenhouses for holding exotic plants and trees. Several stoves heated the facility in winter. The two wings housed the gardener's apartments.
