Four Ursulines - including two daughters of the Imperial Count of Nesselrode-Reichenstein from Herten - arrive in Dorsten on 21 January from the Cologne monastery. In order to educate young women in the Christian faith, they opened a free elementary school and a girls' school with boarding school in the "High House" in Blindestraße (today: Ursulastraße). After the acquisition of further houses, the "High House" was converted into a monastery church. Today, the Ursuliens run an important grammar school and a secondary school.
