The Münster Lock is a lock of the Dortmund-Ems Canal. The canal step is located in the city of Münster.
Built in the 1890s and later expanded, the lock system is located at DEK-km 71.5 and was last in operation as an economy lock with three chambers. Due to the German Unity Transport Project No. 17, the southern line of the DEK also gained in importance. Closing the gap between the Ruhr area and the Mittelland Canal, it is part of a continuous waterway from the Rhine to Berlin. For this reason, the Münster lock was rebuilt from 2004 to 2014 as a twin lock. It is operated by the Waterways and Shipping Office of West German Canals, has an average head of 6.2 m and is operated daily at fixed times on site.
