Berkelmühle Stadtlohn

The Berkelmühle is a completely renovated industrial building that was used as a water-powered grain mill until the early 2010s. It is located in direct vicinity to the completely redesigned riverside promenade. It has direct access to the Berkel cycling path, which runs between the source in Billerbeck and the mouth in Zutphen in the Netherlands.

The café offers 40 indoor seats and about 20 outdoor seats in close proximity to the Berkel. It is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and serves coffee and cakes, sweet and savory snacks, as well as salads. Additionally, a lunch menu is available during midday (prior reservation is requested for groups). The Café Berkelmühle aims to provide you with a moment of peace and relaxation during your visit.

Alexianer IBP GmbH from Coesfeld operates the café inclusively. As a provider of social facilities that offer inpatient and outpatient assistance for individuals struggling with addiction, mental illness, and people in special life situations, social and professional inclusion is an essential part of reintegration into the community and working life. The cultural and gastronomy work is an important component of social work with people who often stand on the fringes of society and have limited access to cultural events.

The goal of the integrative Café Berkelmühle is to create not only a culinary offering but also a cultural one. Look forward to an exhibition about the Berkel and a model of a Berkelzomp, an old type of ship that was used east of the IJssel. And visit one of the art and cultural events taking place throughout the year.
