The forest settlement Hakenfelde is a residential area in the northern part of the Berlin district of Spandau, district Hakenfelde. It was established from 1914, based on the garden city model, to alleviate the housing shortage among workers of the Spandau armaments and industrial enterprises. By 1919, 250 houses had been completed.
Different types of houses were built for one, two, or several families with variable facade designs and usually with a garden portion. The oldest section has been protected as a residential complex and settlement as a historical monument and garden monument since 1986.
