Zwenzow is a district of the municipality of Userin in the district of Mecklenburgische Seenplatte with about 100 inhabitants and is located directly on the northern shore of the Großer Labussee, adjacent to the Müritz National Park.
More than a thousand years ago, the Slavs settled by the Labussee and founded a fishing village. The name Zwenzow derives from the word sveca, which roughly means residence of the holy family. In 1275, Zwenzow was mentioned as Swenza and in 1568 as Tzuuentze. After the plague ravaged the area around 1350, the name remained solely as a land designation for 400 years – Zwenzow had no more inhabitants.
