Marienthal Castle

Marienthal Castle, also known as Gutshof Marienthal or Gutshaus Marienthal, is a listed building in Marienthal, a district of the town of Eckartsberga in the Burgenlandkreis district in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. In the local register of monuments, the castle is listed as an architectural monument under the registration number 094 81471.
The castle was built in 1730 near the demolished Marienthal Monastery on behalf of the Münchhausen family. The building served as a women's convent. The Seebach family came into possession of the castle in 1742 and the Wilmowsky family in 1893, through the marriage of Karl von Wilmowsky and Anna Seebach. Part of the so-called Old Castle was demolished in 1910 and rebuilt in 1913/14 by the architect Paul Schulze-Naumburg for Tilo Freiherr von Wilmowsky. In 1950, the last remains of the Old Castle were demolished. During the GDR period, the castle was used as a children's sanatorium. Since 1996, a large part of the complex has been owned by the Schreiber family.
