Together with his brother Florian, Peter Klöckner founded an iron and steel trading company in Duisburg in 1906, which later became Klöckner & Co. They paid particular attention to ailing companies, in which they secured the majority of capital before restructuring them. These included in particular metallurgical works, coal mines and ore mines.
