Chapel Oelerse

The Protestant-Lutheran listed chapel of Oelerse is located in Oelerse, a village in the municipality of Edemissen in the Peine district of Lower Saxony. The two villages of Abbensen and Oelerse form the parish of Abbensen-Oelerse, which belongs to the Peine church district in the Hildesheim-Göttingen region of the Evangelical Lutheran State Church of Hanover.

According to an inscription above the portal, the half-timbered church dates back to 1773 and replaced a predecessor building mentioned in 1534. Originally, the hall church had a choir with a three-sided closure in the east, which was removed in 1921. The nave was extended by four frames and finished with a straight eastern wall. In the west, the wall was clad with rubble stones. The original gabled roof was replaced by a hipped roof, from which a copper-covered belfry rises, topped with a pointed pyramid roof. In its bell chamber hangs a church bell cast in 1846. An extension made of brick was built on the north side as a mortuary, covered with a shed roof.
