Castle complex in the Leiberg Forest

The castle complex in the Leiberg Forest is the castle stable of an early medieval rampart, located 1900 m south of the Bad Wünnenberg district of Leiberg in the district of Paderborn in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

The mountain spur on which the complex is located drops steeply to the north, east and west. Therefore, the castle there is only secured by – sometimes double – terrace edges. In the south there is a rampart that is still 2 m high and 119 m long with an outer ditch and culvert in the western third. Another rampart with an outer ditch is located 130 to 170 m further south. This is up to 3 m high, up to 10 m wide and 210 m long. The terrace edges, which also start on this sectional wall, are only 20 and 80 m wide. In the western third of the southern wall there is a pincer gate. A passage in the eastern part seems to be more recent.
