During World War II, the Langwarden heavy anti-aircraft battery was a bunkered position of the naval anti-aircraft gun in the north of Butjadingen.
The facility was located west of Langwarden in the north of Ruhwarden and Mürrwarden behind the sea dike between the streets Langwarder Meide and Mürrwarder Straße. On the dike was a Würzburg type radar device. The anti-aircraft battery was identical in construction to the batteries in Schweiburg in Seefeld. It consisted of four above-ground gun bunkers arranged around a bunkered control station. West of Mürrwarder Straße there was a machine bunker with a 2-cm stand, an accommodation barrack and a second control station.
