Obersteinbeck is a district of the municipality of Recke. It is located in the Tecklenburger Land region of the Steinfurt district. There are 1,657 residents living in Obersteinbeck.
The settlement was established in the 1950s. The relocation of the permanent dairy factory "Immergut" Dr. Löchel in 1962 from the Ibbenbüren station to Obersteinbeck brought many jobs to the area. The permanent dairy factory had already been acquired by Hochwald from Thalfang in 1953. In the mid-1980s, the factory was closed due to production relocation to Thalfang. Today, a large part of the population works in the Ibbenbüren coal mine as well as in the surrounding communities. Since 2019, a business specializing in the rental of berths for boats has been located on the former site of the Hochwald food industries.
