Neurhede is located between Leer and Meppen, directly on the Dutch border. Neurhede has 471 inhabitants and covers an area of 5.95 km².
It borders to the north with the district of Rhede, to the east with the district of Borsum, to the south with the municipality of Heede in the collective municipality of Dörpen, and to the west with the Netherlands. The Dutch border town is called Bourtange and belongs to the municipality of Westerwolde.
