Orsbach is a village of about 600 inhabitants in the district of Aachen, Germany. Orsbach is located north of the Dutch and German village of Lemiers, south of the Dutch village of Bocholtz and about seven kilometers from the center of the city of Aachen.
According to Gysseling, the first mention dates back to 1219 as "the Orlosberge". Since 1338, Orsbach has been part of the Free Imperial City of Aachen, and in the 15th century Orsbach Castle was built here, with a defensive wall and tower, which allowed a view of the much deeper connecting road between Aachen and Maastricht. The tower was used to guard the road and communicate with the city center. The village is hemmed in on three sides by Dutch territory.
