The free zoo is located in the middle of our public city park. This zoo in Gronau was established around 70 years ago as a gift from the industrial family van Delden to the citizens of Gronau.
Mainly birds are showcased here, including common ornamental birds such as budgerigars and lovebirds, but also Weaver Finches and golden pheasants along with ducks and geese. The animal inventory is complemented by coatis, white storks, porcupines, fallow deer, and capuchin monkeys. The monkeys inhabit an unusually large house with an outdoor enclosure for such a small zoo. A relatively new resident in the Gronau zoo is the Bennett's kangaroo. Did you know that this kangaroo species can hop up to 30 km/h? No? Maybe you’ll get lucky and see for yourself!
