Vinnum and not Olfen
Always worth a story of its own

Just under five kilometers from the center of Olfen lies Vinnum, the only officially designated district of Olfen, which presents its own history, a strong sense of community, and an active club life.

Whether in politics, sports, at large shooting festivals, during carnival celebrations, or with its many horse enthusiasts and its own volunteer fire department: Today, nearly 1,000 citizens know what they want. And they have known it since the beginning of Olfen’s history. For as long as anyone can remember, this small place has belonged to the so-called "parish of Olfen" with its craftsmanship and agriculture. A flourishing economy and the motto: "Here, we help each other," characterize Vinnum and its citizens to this day.

An independent kindergarten, a church (built in 1906), an impressive sports facility, two bank branches, and an inn provide Vinnumers with various activities and options locally. To fill the gap caused by the partly lacking infrastructure, especially for less mobile citizens, the community bus was established. Several times a day, this community bus connects Vinnum with various destinations in Olfen, so that shopping, doctor visits, and social contacts can function smoothly.

A special attraction of Vinnum for centuries has been Sandfort Castle, which continues to draw visitors to this idyllic district to this day.
