Wilder Netzbachpfad

The Wild Netzbach Trail offers a marshland landscape in the Netzbach valley and diverse forest scenery that produces different forms of vegetation in every season.

Attention: in some sections, walking on the trail can be made difficult by trees lying across the primeval forest area.

The "primeval forest at the gates of the city" has been growing in the nature reserve and green heart of the Saarkohlenwald forest in the immediate vicinity of the state capital of Saarbrücken for around 20 years. No commercial use is made of the raw material wood here, so that nature can unfold in its very own way. Uprooted trees, swampy marshlands, idiosyncratic streams and small forest lakes are just as much a part of the former post-mining landscape as small spoil tips that are being reclaimed by gnarled oaks.
