Description by the author

Why do otters feel so at home in Lake Großer Mochowsee and what do they actually eat? The Otter Path leads around the Lake Großer Mochowsee. The habitat of the otters and the special geology of the area are explained in detail. Other subjects dealt with on the panels, signs and hands-on stations are the importance of still water and local fishing activity. Along the path there are also idyllic bathing spots where you can take a break.
A total of nine kilometres in length, this nature trail is one of the longest of a total of six circular paths that are linked to the Ludwig Leichhardt Trail in loops. All of them together form the Ludwig Leichhardt Nature Trail, covering a total length of some 32 kilometres. This makes it one of the longest nature trails in Germany. Each path is dedicated to a selected aspect of the impressive and varied natural landscapes between Goyatz and Butzen.
