Bike tour: Once around Spremberg Reservoir and back

The region around Cottbus thrives on its proximity to water. The Spremberg reservoir is located in the south of Cottbus and can be easily reached and circumnavigated via the Spreeradweg. Start your bike tour in the historic Old Town of Cottbus. From here, its just a few meters to the Spreeradweg, which will take you through the Sandow district upstream to the Cottbus park area. Along the tracks of the park railway, youll cycle to the Schloss and Park Branitz station, cross the tracks at the barrier in front, and reach the banks of the Spree. Once there, continue cycling upstream on the left bank of the Spree, pass under a railway bridge, and after about 1.5 km, switch to the other side of the Spree via a wooden bridge. Follow the signs of the Spreeradweg to the outskirts of Gallinchen. There, leave the Spreeradweg and turn left downhill back to the Spree over a bridge, cross a small park, and arrive in Frauendorf. From there, turn right onto the main street and leave it just before the outskirts towards Neuhausen. Follow the cycle path through the village of Neuhausen to the junction towards Bräsinchen. From there, the cycle path leads left to Bagenz. The tour around the reservoir takes you through the villages of Sellessen and Bühlow. From Bühlow, follow the cycle path on the west side of the lake to the south and north beaches. On the Spreeradweg, cycle back to Cottbus via Groß Oßnig and Gallinchen.And what can you discover along the way or with small detours?
