The Heidelberg-Black Forest-Lake Constance Trail leads through the Kraichgau region and the Black Forest to Lake Constance on its steep route.
What a starting point, what a destination: from picturesque Heidelberg to the no less beautiful Lake Constance, this cycle trail leads all the way through Baden-Württemberg, 300 kilometers from north to south. It is as varied as it is steep, starting with the thousand hills of the Kraichgau, passing through valleys and over a few heights of the Black Forest before the efforts are rewarded with wonderful descents from Donaueschingen onwards. The route of this quiet and predominantly rural cycle path takes in the Kurpfalz asparagus landscape around Reilingen and St. Leon-Rot, the gold town of Pforzheim, the birthplace of Hesse Calw, Baden-Württemberg's oldest town Rottweil, the source of the Danube in Donaueschingen and the Hohentwiel castle ruins near Singen, Germany's largest fortress. Once you're there, you've almost made it and can almost smell the mild air of Lake Constance.
