Old Lorraine farmhouses, the ascent to the Gallenberg, distant views of the border triangle and the Schaumberg await the hiker. There are also sections through orchards and shady forest passages with exciting geological highlights. The highlight of the tour: "Haus Saargau". Here you can experience regional history through an old farmhouse.

A cultural highlight right at the start of the hike: the "Haus Saargau" museum of local history and farming is located in one of the old Gisinger farmhouses. The faithfully restored 18th century Lorraine farmhouse houses old Lorraine furniture as well as furnishings and everyday objects from the 19th and 20th centuries. Herbs and aromatic plants grow in the 1000 square meter garden.As you climb to the summit of the Gallenberg, you can enjoy sweeping views of the countryside: on one side you can see as far as the border triangle of Germany, France and Luxembourg, and on the other as far as the Saar valley, with the spoil tip of the former Duhamel mine in Ensdorf clearly visible. The first geological highlight is in the extensive wooded area over layers of Middle Muschelkalk below Gisingen: a limestone tufa staircase of the calcareous Leitersteiner stream. In the stream bed you can discover stones, leaves and twigs covered in a limestone crust. This is followed by the Leitersbach spring at Leitersbacher Born, the "Pastorgrät" natural monument and the Itzbach valley. There is another geological highlight: the "Grott", also known as "Raufels". In an environment characterized by red sandstone, there is a huge, grey rock made of limestone, formed by the highly calcareous and carbon-dioxide-rich water of the higher Lehrborn.
