An educational trail on the subject of orchids with ten exciting stations. There is a lot to discover!

Parts of the Gersheim orchid area have been a nature reserve since 1957. This is because the "Mediterranean" climate and the nutrient-poor soil favor particularly rare biocoenoses. Almost half of the orchid species found in Germany can be discovered here, as well as other rare animals and plants. The orchid trail has ten stations showing special species, why they are found here and how we can preserve their habitat. In addition to orchids, the adventure trail also introduces butterflies, birds and grasshoppers.The smaller circular trail is approx. 1.8 km long and includes seven stations; if you choose the detour to the Kalkquellsumpf, you can see all ten stations and walk approx. 2.8 km. The trail has several ascents and descents and is mostly only available as a narrow path. Good footwear is therefore advisable.
