Description

Enjoy the circular hiking trail around the Sösetalsperre to Riefensbeek and Kamschlacken, passing many beautiful viewpoints and small waterfalls.

We start our tour at the water of the Sösetalsperre, walking on a flat path to Riefensbeek. If you feel hungry or thirsty there, you can try the freshly baked cake or homemade pies at Landhaus Meyer. Well-nourished, we continue to the Eleonorenschutzhütte. From there, you have a view far down into the valley. The descent is also characterized by beautiful views and small waterfalls.

Route Description

Coming from Osterode, park your car north of the dam between Vorbecken and Sösetalsperre.

We start our circular route walking along the water to Riefensbeek. Once there, the hiking trail leads us left onto the path Am alten Riefensbeek. At the next fork, we walk uphill until we have crossed the mountain meadows. At the big junction of the small Mittelberg, the path leads steeply back down to Kamschlacken. The next destination is the Allertal. From there, we follow the hiking trail to Eleonorenblick. The path leads us uphill over the Knochenplatz along the Bösenberg to the shelter Ackerblick. From there, we follow the hiking trail Riefensbeek on a narrow path across the valley floor at Eichelnberg. From here, we keep left and walk directly down into the valley. At the parking lot, we turn left, cross the dam, and reach the car directly.

Directions

Follow the B 498 for about 6 km from Osterode towards Riefensbeek-Kamschlacken. The parking lot where our tour begins is located on the right side.

Parking Information

Use the parking lot north of the dam between Vorbecken and Sösetalsperre.

Safety Information

The section from the parking lot north of the dam to Riefensbeek is on a flat stretch and therefore suitable for wheelchair users.
