Directions

You start your hike at the Tourist Information at the train station in Burg. You walk towards Bahnhofstraße and pass under the railway line towards Niegripper Chaussee. Shortly before the Elbe-Havel Canal (near Burger Knäcke Werke), turn left into the field - Lüdersdorf, this path leads you continuously along the Elbe-Havel Canal to the double lock Hohenwarthe.

The lock system forms the eastern end of the Mittellandkanalhaltung Sülfeld-Hohenwarthe. The ships are lowered about 18.5 m into the lower Elbe-Havel Canal. In addition to the lock chambers, three staggered overflow basins have been designed. These basins enable a water saving of around 60% of the lock water requirement.

After visiting the double lock, walk into the forest area Zuwachs Külzauer Forst. From here you reach the Quickberg (68 m above sea level) directly to the Quickbornquelle, which is located in the midst of the pine forests and surrounded by a deciduous forest. Here you have the opportunity to take a break at a small quiet rest area and enjoy the nature and tranquility. Then continue spiritedly through the forest towards Laternenberg and back to Burg.
