From Thale around the Bodetal to Treseburg

Thale - Rosstrappe - Tresestein - Todtenrode - Altenbrak - Treseburg (approx. 15 km)

Description

This hike leads from Thale over the Rosstrappe along the northern edge of the Bodetal valley to Altenbrak. From there, following a section of the Harzer-Hexen-Stieg, the trail continues along the Bode river to the final destination in Treseburg.

Route description

The starting point of this tour is the central meeting point at the Bodetal Information Thale, where you follow the signposts for Rosstrappe (green bar) into the Bodetal valley. On the uphill Presidents Path, you will reach the Berghotel Rosstrappe shortly after the Bülowshöhe viewpoint. Following the signs, you will arrive at the Rosstrappe rock with the famous hoofprint after about 15 minutes.

Returning past the hotel, you will reach the parking lot with the trail signpost tree. From here, follow the signs for Altenbrak (green bar) and reach the intersection with the Tresestein and a shelter on flat paths. Following the signs, you will reach the Langen monument with a shelter. From here, follow the signs for Todtenrode (green triangle) to the idyllically located forest restaurant Zum Alten Forsthaus.

Now, following the yellow cross markings, head towards Altenbrak down to the trail junction Böser Kleef/Thale (detour to the Böser Kleef viewpoint with stamping point). From the junction, take the hiking trail (green bar / yellow cross) to the parking lot in the center of Altenbrak, and then continue on the Harzer-Hexen-Stieg (green witch markings) downstream to Treseburg, where the hike ends.
