Cycle path Saale-Harz

Short description

The Saale-Harz cycle path is about 70 km long and connects the Saale cycle path in Halle with the Harz circular path. Along the route, cyclists can expect varied landscapes, waters, and forests from the foothills of the Harz Mountains to the Saale Valley, as well as idyllic places with remarkable architecture, rich culture, and an interesting history.

Description

The Saale-Harz cycle path runs for a distance of about 70 km only through the state of Saxony-Anhalt, connecting the Saale cycle path and the Harz circular path. Starting from Wippra (connection to the Harz circular path), it crosses the Mansfelder Land district, then a short section of the Saale district, and finally connects to the Saale cycle path in Halle.

Route description

From the Saale cycle path near Lieskau, it passes through the Saale district and the Mansfeld-Südharz district with the Süßer See, Lutherstadt Eisleben, and Mansfeld. The cycle path meets the Harz circular course in the Harz district near Wippra.The Süßer See is located between Halle and Eisleben, is about 5 km long and 800 m wide, and offers opportunities for swimming, sailing, surfing, and fishing. A special attraction is the Seeperle boat restaurant on the northern shore.Along the Süßer See and its surroundings, the Saale-Harz cycle path intersects the Mansfelder Seen wine route. The wine region around the Mansfelder Seen is an offshoot of the northernmost German wine-growing region Saale-Unstrut. In 2003, the Mansfelder Land and the Saale district established their own wine route Mansfelder Seen, which runs approximately along the Salza stream and includes the Saale district communities of Höhnstedt, Zappendorf, Langenbogen, as well as in the Mansfeld-Südharz district Seeburg, Rollsdorf, Aseleben, Lüttchendorf, Wormsleben, and Unterrißdorf.
